This only verifies that this area of expertise will continue to grow exponentially. The report showed that of those that were hired as new experts, nearly half of them were for permanent positions. 56 per cent of the companies that were surveyed that had plans to hire someone in the coming year included digital marketing expertise in their requisite skills. The skills that are required include but are not limited to mobile, social, content creation, SEO, SEM, and lead generation. These are some skills that are not only going to be required for digital marketing jobs in the future and it is easy to see these skills being required for even basic advertising positions in the future.

A majority of the skills that are required in some of the traditional marketing and advertising roles have completely over-saturated the market. With creative skills, there is a 35 per cent demand with only 27 per cent supply.
According to the European Commission, the overall usage of digital marketing has grown in 90 per cent of the workplaces over only the last 5 years. Therefore, the skill gap is really becoming significant with 38 per cent of the workplaces in the country coming to the conclusion that their workforce lacking these skills is resulting in lower productivity and results.
Along with this, 88 per cent of workplaces fully admit that they haven’t done a thing to improve the gap of skills within their respective companies.
