Recently, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention made increased awareness to the public about the Coronavirus, which is a global pandemic. Coronavirus is a viral infection realized in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Much about the virus is not known, but scientists and medical experts are doing their research to find the right solution to this virus.
The reports about the virus are not clear, and all the world’s population gets is mixed signals and rumors. One study tries to prove that animals are the primary source of the virus and that it was first contracted from animal to person through consumption of living creatures and seafood. However, these are just claiming, and the truth of the matter is not known. Later, information was gathered, and after a detailed analysis, the result the world’s population was given is that the virus is contagious and quickly spreads from person to person and not from animal to person as alleged. The fact is that this is how the virus is spread: from one person to the other. It started from Wuhan, China as a single case and has grown to affect the entire continent of Europe, Asia and Africa.
According to scientists, Coronavirus is a transmitted respiratory infection with almost the same symptoms to the common cold. The most common signs and symptoms of this transmitted respiratory disease include struggle in breathing, fever, persistent dry cough, fatigue, diarrhoea, headache, rashes on the skin, and loss of taste, to name a few. The signs and symptoms of this disease will feature after 14 days of contracting the disease. The common method of contracting this disease is through close contact with an infected person while travelling, or at work. As a result, the World Health Organization recommended everyone to quarantine themselves and isolate them from those infected to combat the spread of this disease.
As stated earlier, the disease was realized in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. Since then, no clear solution was found, and it kept spreading from one city to the next, region to region, country to country, and the whole continent is affected. From data collected, more than 2,462 people have succumbed to death because of the virus between 31st December 2019 and 25th February 2020.
Surprisingly even with the lockdown measures, quarantine, isolation, and restricting transport, the number of infections kept rising in the EU and the UK. The entire economy has been affected by this disease because most sectors have been closed. Health sectors and scientists are trying their level best to find a solution to this problem by looking for the most appropriate curative and preventive measures. According to the President of European Commercialization for the biopharmaceutical firm, Carsten Thiel, current data analysis show that most people who are socially active will contract the infection. He also adds that the rate of infection will lower during the summer but rise during winter.
