Can your business angel investment or startup make money from English?

Here’s an interesting info graphic which depicts the economic value of speaking English  in relation to the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) or economic growth.

It is also a great reminder to business angels and entrepreneurs of the startup and business potential of selling English speaking services to the rest of the world.

It shows that the countries that are capable of speaking English tend to have a far better GDP and feature highly on the list.

Yes there are exceptions such as China and Japan who rank highly due to their technological prowess and developing countries suffer due to opposing factors like poor infrastructure.

However, there is a common theme that each country that features highly on the GDP list possesses; that is a large proportion of the countries have the ability to speak English.

I think that UK or US entrepreneurs and business angels are often surprised by the strength of desire for non-English speakers to learn to speak or improve their English. In many cases, their individual economic future depends on it and, as the graphic shows, so does the future wealth of their country too.
