A new website is hoping to help entrepreneurs raise funding while opening up the possibility of just about anyone who fancies it having a go at investing in a start-up.
The new website will challenge conventional Business Angel and VC funding models by launching a pioneering new equity-based crowdfunding service to help entrepreneurs seeking businesses finance. The website will allow entrepreneurs to raise money for their business venture by offering real equity in exchange for investment from the “crowd”.
Crowdcube.com was launched this month and allows people to invest as little as £10 into a business with no requirement for investors to self-certify that they are high net worth individuals or sophisticated investors. Crowdcube’s website is due to launch in early 2011.
