Business angels fund Fashism

A New York based social shopping start-up has received a round of business angel funding from a business angel group created by Hollywood celebrity and entrepreneur Ashton Kutcher.

According to reports in the New York Times A Grade Investments has invested $1 million in Fashism a website that offers a way to get fashion feedback before making a purchase. Other angel investors involved included the actress Demi Moore and Nina Garcia of Marie Claire magazine, and Ron Conway’s SV Angel amongst others.

    A record amount of Business Angel capital was invested in the new economy during 1999 2000 according to the BVCA s eighth Report on Business Angel Activity. Author Professor Colin Mason of the University of Southampton found that angels – each on average investing 55 000 – had pumped nearly 14m into technology companies twice that of the previous year.
