Syndication Increases Among New Zealand Angel Groups

Business angel groups in New Zealand are increasingly likely to work together as figures from the first half of the year reveal.

Business angel investor groups invested $31.6 million in start-ups during the first half of the year indicating a significant appetite for angel investor finance amongst the country’s fledgling businesses. 71 % of these deals were syndicated deals marking a significant trend towards collaboration when compared to 26% in the same period in the previous year.  The business angel scene in New Zealand has mushroomed since 2006 with $160m invested in young companies since the country’s Young Company Index began measuring levels of funding  in 2006.
