CrowdStar, the creator of popular mass market social games including category leader Happy Aquarium, today announced that Mr. Niren Hiro, a former executive at AdMob Inc., has joined the company as Chief Executive Officer.
Hiro joins CrowdStar as the company’s popular Facebook games approach a player base of 50 million players per month. During the first half of 2010, CrowdStar also launched its flagship game Happy Aquarium in the high growth, hyper-competitive Japanese gaming and virtual goods market, and the title is growing rapidly on the Japanese social network Mixi, across both the PC and advanced mobile phone platforms.
Hiro has deep entrepreneurial roots. When he was 21, he founded a highly successful processed foods company in Japan, where he was born and raised, and today he is an angel investor in several promising startups. Hiro has a BS in Finance and a MBA from Boston University.
